Frequently asked questions about shift calculations

How do I convert weekly pay to annual salary?

Multiply your weekly gross pay by the number of weeks you work per year. For a standard full-time schedule: weekly pay × 52 = annual salary. If you take 2 weeks unpaid vacation, multiply by 50 instead.

How much is $1,000 a week annually?

$1,000 × 52 weeks = $52,000 per year before taxes. After federal income tax, state tax, Social Security (6.2%), and Medicare (1.45%), your take-home will be approximately $38,000–$42,000 depending on your state and filing status.

How much is $800 a week per year?

$800 × 52 = $41,600 annually. This is equivalent to approximately $20 per hour at 40 hours per week.

What is the difference between gross and net annual pay?

Gross annual pay is before any deductions. Net pay (take-home) is after federal income tax, state income tax, Social Security (6.2% up to $168,600), and Medicare (1.45%). Most workers keep 65–80% of gross pay depending on income and state.

How many weeks should I use if I take vacation?

Subtract your unpaid weeks from 52. Two weeks unpaid vacation = 50 weeks. Three weeks = 49 weeks. If your vacation is paid, use 52 — your employer pays you during those weeks.

How do I convert bi-weekly pay to annual salary?

Multiply your bi-weekly paycheck amount by 26. There are 26 bi-weekly pay periods per year. For example, a $2,000 bi-weekly paycheck equals $52,000 annually.

What hourly rate equals $50,000 per year?

$50,000 ÷ 52 weeks ÷ 40 hours = $24.04 per hour. At $50,000 per year you earn approximately $961.54 per week or $1,923.08 bi-weekly before taxes.

How do I calculate monthly pay from weekly pay?

Multiply weekly pay by 52 to get annual, then divide by 12 for monthly. Alternatively, multiply weekly pay by 4.333 (the average weeks per month). Note: some months have 5 pay weeks, which is why the 4.333 multiplier is more accurate than simply multiplying by 4.
